Classification by Insulation Method

• Coated Insulating Bearings: A ceramic coating such as alumina is applied to the surface of a common bearing. The coating thickness ranges from a few to several tens of microns, providing good insulation and wear resistance. These bearings are cost - effective and easy to install, without changing the original bearing structure and installation dimensions. However, the coating may be prone to wear and spalling during long - term use, which can affect the insulation performance.

• Hybrid Ceramic Insulating Bearings: The rolling elements of these bearings are made of silicon nitride ceramics, while the inner and outer rings are made of metal. The ceramic rolling elements have excellent insulation properties, high hardness, low friction coefficient, and high temperature resistance. Their insulation performance is stable, and they have a long service life. Nevertheless, due to the difficulty of processing ceramics, the price of such bearings is relatively high.

• All - Ceramic Insulating Bearings: The rolling elements, inner and outer rings, and cages of these bearings are all made of ceramics, such as silicon nitride and zirconia. They have excellent insulation, corrosion resistance, high - temperature resistance, and self - lubrication properties, and can adapt to harsh environments. However, their manufacturing process is complex and costly, and the brittleness of ceramics requires special care during installation and use.
